Local Community Transport Charities Merge

July 20, 2010 3:38 pm - Categorised in:

We are delighted to have been involved in the merger of two local charities, ‘Amber Valley Community Transport’ and ‘Chesterfield and District Community Transport’.

Both long-established charities exist to offer transport services to the community and are an invaluable help to local residents, many of whom struggle from a lack of personal transport. Services offered range from organised day trips to the country to visits to hospitals and town centres throughout Derbyshire and the East Midlands.

The charities concluded they would be able to offer an improved and more efficient service by pooling their resources and decided to go ahead with a merger which will now see them operating together under the name ‘Community Transport for Town and County’.

Solicitors Simon Hale and Ben Bourne from our charity team provided legal advice throughout the merger.

Ben commented “We were thrilled to advise on all aspects of the transaction, from initial brainstorming in advising the Trustees, drafting the documentation and handling the commercial and charity law aspects of the transaction to eventually witnessing the signing on completion. We are particularly pleased to have been involved with these local charities which are offering lifeline services to members of our community.”

‘Community Transport for Town and County’ will now operate from two bases at the existing premises in Ripley and also in Chesterfield.

Chief Executive Patrick Dawson commented, “It was a delight to work with Ben and Simon who provided support and advice on a whole range of issues which helped the whole transaction run smoothly”.
