Our Charity of the year is Hope Nottingham which began 5 years ago with a vision for Hope Café in Beeston as a one-stop community support café: a community of compassionate volunteers who welcome people with all kinds of needs and build friendship and trust. Trust provides the best foundation for offering all kinds of support to help make real progress. Hope café offers:-
Compassionate Community
Practical Help with Foodbank, clothing and furniture.
Advice Sessions from Citizens Advice, DHA (Housing legal advice and Christians against Poverty (Debt support).
Health Support with visiting GP, dentist, mental health worker and with free counselling availability.
Housing Support in addition to working closely with local housing officers, Hope Nottingham also runs a small house for local homeless people.
Employment Pathway offering volunteer work experience, mentoring, literacy, numeracy and It Tuition.
Hope Nottingham are also now developing a “grow and eat” project. Using a previously abandoned allotment site, the charity is working to grow, cook and serve food in Hope House Café for the benefit of the wider community.
Beyond Beeston, the charity’s work is also growing, with 16 local Foodbank centres in total. All of these are developed in partnership with local churches. For more information click here
