Turning Reflection into Resolution

As we approach the Christmas period, there is always a flurry of activity and a never ending “to do list”. We all rush towards the Christmas break, trying to complete Christmas shopping, attend school plays, get the tree up and the Christmas lights on. And then, once the festive period has finished there is a more relaxed period, which very often can be a time for reflection whilst also looking towards the future and what it might hold.

For many, a New Year can be a time of re-evaluation before moving forward with new goals and renewed focus. We often find that January is a very busy time for family lawyers, not because of the misconception that everyone falls out over the Christmas period. For people experiencing a change in their family life it can often be the case that they just want to make it through the festive period before facing the challenges that lie ahead.

When you are ready to move forwards, the best way to approach a new challenge is to approach it in an informed way, armed with all the facts and options available. It can be tempting to speak to friends and family about your situation or rely on an internet search. The important thing is that your situation will be unique and individual and what may have applied to a friend may be different in your situation.

If you are considering a separation, obtaining legal advice at an early stage can help to take some of the worry and uncertainty out of a situation. By removing the unknowns, you can make an informed choice about the best way forward for you. By understanding the processes and the challenges that lie ahead you will be more equipped to take those first steps towards your new situation.

An experienced family lawyer can help to answer those questions so that you can then take the time that you need to consider the way forward and decide what is best for you.

If you would like to arrange an appointment to discuss your situation in a confidential and clear way, then please do not hesitate to contact the Ellis-Fermor and Negus family team.
