Act Now – Lasting Powers of Attorney Fees to Rise

September 29, 2025 4:30 pm - Categorised in: ,

Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) registration fees are set to rise on Monday 17th November 2025 to £92 per document!

LPAs are important legal documents where you appoint people who you trust to make decisions on your behalf. Sometimes people wish to plan ahead and set out in advance what they would like to happen should they become unable to make decisions for themselves in the future.

An LPA must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before they can be used.

There are 2 different types of LPAs

1. A Financial Decisions LPA is for decisions about finances, such as managing your bank account(s); and
2. A Health and Care Decision LPA is for decisions about health and personal welfare, such as where to live, day-to-day care or consenting to medical treatment

Without a valid LPA in place your friends or family will have to make an application to the Court of Protection for a deputyship order if you are unable to manage your own affairs. Court of Protection applications can be expensive and time consuming for your friends and family, and it is therefore important to put in place Lasting Powers of Attorney.

To avoid the rise in registration fees it is vital to have your LPAs correctly signed and sent to the Office of the Public Guardian for registration before the beginning of November to ensure that you qualify for the lower registration fee!
