Interests

Murray is a member of St Alkmund’s Church, Duffield and sings in the Worship Group there. He is married with three children and although they occupy most of his spare time, he is also a member of the Duffield Squash and Tennis Club.

He otherwise just tries to stay in one piece while raising money for charity, e.g. Robin Hood Half-Marathon, 106m cycle ride from Derby to Skegness and in 2010 completion of ‘100 not out!’ (the 75m Nottinghamshire Bike Ride in June and the 25m Chatsworth Challenge Walk in September).

He is also a Non-Executive Director of Derby Loans Industrial Provident Society (trading as Midlands Community Finance) a provider of loans to the financially excluded and has been a Primary School Governor

Interesting Matters

1. Completing English and Overseas acquisitions with associated fundraising for a client quoted on AIM, allowing them to expand in line with their long-term strategy

2. Successfully negotiating the acquisition and licensing of intellectual property rights in products so as to allow a client to add to its product range and build value in the products and associated trademarks

3. Achieving an unusual outsourcing arrangement and joint venture over the critical IT capability of a plc

4. Working with numerous owner-managers and family companies to achieve their desired exit and realisation of value.

5. Advising a charity on a significant welfare to work training contract it has taken on.
