Do we need to have solicitors?
- It is important that each of you consults a solicitor during the mediation process if any points of law need to be clarified and at the end of mediation so that they can assist you in making the agreement legally binding.
- You may wish to consult your solicitor about any proposals made by the other party before deciding whether they are acceptable to you.
- At the end of the mediation your mediator will advise you both to take the Statement of finances and Memorandum of Understanding to your solicitors to obtain their views on it. One of your solicitors will draft a Consent Order or a binding deed of agreement.
